Roberto Carlos has announced that he will leave Real Madrid at the end of the season. The 33-year-old left back has come in for fierce criticism for his recent performances, and confirmed he would not sign a new contract.
This was very expected from Carlos as this was his worst 2 seasons ever in my mind. First the World Cup goal now the fastest goal in the Champions League. I would like him to stay but I dont see a place for him now and I think the time is right for him to leave as an elite rather than an old forgotten player. Marcelo should take his place but Capello dosent seem to like him because in a lot of games we needed him. Roberto Carlos will always have a place in all Madridistas hearts and will never be forgotten. Much like Zidane, everyone feels something is missing in the team and its hard to forget a player of his prestige. The day Carlos leaves will be a very sad day and I am not really looking forward to it. 
Bear in mind this was expected unlike Beckham and Zidane.
