Reports: Ronaldo, Baptista and Helguera to depart Madrid in swap deals

31 08 2006
Ronaldo, Julio Baptista and Ivan Helguera will reportedly leave Real Madrid before Thursday’s transfer deadline if the club can arrange exchange deals. Ronaldo would be swapped for Inter Milan striker Adriano to rejoin the club he played for from 1997-2002. Midfielder Baptista would move to Arsenal, with Spain forward Jose Antonio Reyes achieving a long-awaited transfer to the Spanish club, and defender Helguera would join Valencia in return for Argentina’s Roberto Ayala. The deals would continue Madrid’s transformation under new president Ramon Calderon and recently appointed coach Fabio Capello, who are seeking to end the club’s three-year drought without a a major trophy. Speculation has surrounded Ronaldo’s future since March when he threatened to quit the club after being regularly jeered by fans attending Madrid’s home games. Calderon recently suggested if the price was right he was prepared to offload the striker, who is under contract until 2008. The Spanish club held talks with AC Milan last week although the clubs failed to agree to a fee.Capello reportedly prefers the style and youth of the 24-year-old Adriano to Ronaldo, who is five years older. Ronaldo has yet to play under Capello as he is recovering from knee surgery after the World Cup. Ronaldo’s position in the team is also threatened by the recent signing of Ruud van Nistelrooy from Manchester United. The three-time world player of the year helped Madrid win the Spanish league in his first season, but the club has since won nothing in its longest streak without silverware since the early 1950s. The Reyes-Baptista swap is said to hold the key to Ronaldo’s departure, El Pais newspaper said.Baptista’s departure to Arsenal would free up one of the three places allocated to non-EU players in Madrid’s squad and allow Adriano would take up the place. Madrid has made earlier cash bids to sign Reyes, but Arsenal’s insistence on a higher fee halted any deal. The London club hoped to sign Baptista from Sevilla a year ago, although the Brazil midfielder instead chose to join Madrid in a ?20 million (US$25 million) deal. Baptista is regarded as dispensable by Capello, who has already brought in three other new players as well as van Nistelrooy – Fabio Cannavaro, Emerson and Mahamadou Diarra. Reyes, who joined Arsenal from Sevilla in January 2004 and who last year extended his contract to 2011, has long since shown interest in a return home. The 22-year-old said last weekend he wouldn’t play again in the English league and, with Atletico Madrid also interested, suggested he didn’t mind which Spanish club he joined. The deal between Madrid and Arsenal would initially involve a season’s loan, allowing Reyes to escape a financial penalty he promised to pay Atletico if he didn’t join. Helguera, who joined Madrid in 1999, had hoped to finish his career with the club but Capello has informed him that he is surplus to requirements.

Obviously this is getting stupid….we dont need Reyes and we dont need Adriano for the time being but for Baptista it would be good cause the way i c it he won’t get any first team play and that would waste a year of his career. Also Adriano is a lunatic, everyday he has a different opinion one day “I want to come to Real” a week after that “I want to stay with Inter and win silverware with them” WTF??!! u c i am confused as u r fellow reader 😛

Ayala eyeing Real Madrid move

30 08 2006

Valencia centre-back Roberto Ayala could join Primera Division rivals Real Madrid before Thursday’s transfer deadline. The 33 year-old Argentinian international has fallen out with coach Quique Sanchez Flores and sporting director Amedeo Carboni, and is keen to leave Los Che.

Spanish daily Marca claims his agent, Gustavo Moscardi, will meet representatives from Real, though is pessimistic as to whether a deal can be done

“If Valencia wouldn’t let him go to Villarreal, then I highly doubt they’ll let him go to [Real] Madrid.”

The paper claims the deal also depends on whether or not Madrid can offload Brazilian Julio Baptista before the transfer window closes as the club has already reached it maximum limit of non-EU players.

In my opinion he would be a good addition but hes a veteran so he wont play long but still after woodgate he is a excellent replacement.

Beckham: No Real Madrid deal agreed

29 08 2006
David Beckham has moved quickly to deny claims from Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon that he has agreed a two-year contract extension. Spokesman for Beckham told Reuters. “No new deal has been agreed at the moment.” Calderon said on Sunday that he hoped the 31-year-old midfielder would sign a two-year extension to his deal which expires at the end of the season. “We all want him to stay with us,” Calderon told Spanish state television. “We would like him to renew his contract for two more years. “The coaching staff and the club both agree that he is an important player and have given the go-ahead to a new deal that we hope will be settled in the coming weeks or months.”

WTH?? Calderon is lying alot lately…. first about the 3 signings and now about beckham he really should say atleast maybe or will or something like that not that it happened I dont trust him already.

Former England captain David Beckham has signed a two-year extension to his contract at Real Madrid, club President Ramón Calderón announced. The new deal will keep the 31 year-old midfielder, at the Santiago Bernabeu until June 2009. Real Madrid 0-0 Villarreal

    28 08 2006

I watched every minute of the match and my opinion is that we played good but our attack sucks. I mean our defense and midfield is better than ever but it lacks the attacking football Real Madrid used to play; or I should just say no ronaldo :P. I am not saying RVN sucks but is a good replacement but not as good as Ronaldo. The ref sucked cause every call was pro villareal and he misinterpreted a penalty appeal so we drew. Real Madrid haven’t lost a La Liga debut in 23 years. However, the draw against Villarreal leaves a sour taste in the mouths of Madridistas after their team played a solid first half. The Raul-Cassano-Van Nistelrooy connection worked well, but the team couldn’t find the back of the net. Villarreal came out strong in the second half and Madrid had trouble keeping up. Although the Whites had several chances to take the lead, the team lacked accuracy in front of their rivals goal.

    A Dream Come True :D

    26 08 2006
Yes i know, i am not living a dream but this is far from reality. Barca beaten 3 – 0 and have no excuse for their sluggish play and now u will c the real Barca that existed b4 ronaldinho b/c ad everyone knows Barca – Ronaldinho = NOTHING :@!! Sevilla FC became the third Spanish side to win the UEFA Super Cup as first-half goals from Renato and Frédéric Kanouté, together with a late penalty from substitute Enzo Maresca, earned a fine victory in the all-Iberian affair against FC Barcelona in Monaco.
