El Clasico Review

13 03 2007

Prior to the Madrid team bus rolling into the Camp Nou compound, a draw would have been very much acceptable, considering the lengthy injury list and all the lackluster performances they’ve been putting in every second week.

In fact, it would have been greeted as a decent result whatever the scoreline, as long as the men in white didn’t make fools of themselves on the pitch like they have done so quite a few times already this season.

But as the match progressed, expectations started to change dramatically. As soon as Real drew first blood in the 5th minute, settling for a draw went straight out the electrifying Nou Camp window. Then came Messi’s goal in which wasent really enough for the whites.

Even though Messi scored the drawing goal twice, the momentum and the advantage was very much white in colour thanks to Oleguer’s early trip to the shower right at the end of half time.

That sending off proved to be the critical point of the match as the two teams came back out for the second half with very different mentalities. The tables had turned now that Barca were playing for a draw and Madrid were shooting for a win. And when Sergio Ramos headed Los Blancos ahead for the third time with a little over 15 minutes to go, surely a draw wasn’t acceptable anymore. It became a match that they simply had to win.

But in typical Madrid fashion this season, they could not close it out. Thus Real Madrid lie at 4th place with 5 points between both Sevilla and Barcelona and 2 from Valencia. Lucky Real Madrid get Valencia and Sevilla at home but taken into consideration the home record the whites have had this season, does not necessarily mean that Real will have an easy break. In realmadrid.com’s words “14 games, 14 finals”.

Champions League Draw

9 03 2007

To think that Real Madrid would have been in the draw is very disappointing cause they got lucky in the last 16 but Madrid are in a habit of losing chances that are literally given to them. Anyways there are 3 rematches as we can see which are Milan and Bayern and if both Chelsea and Liverpool win their respectable ties they would face each other for the freakin 3rd year!! Also if Liverpool and AC Milan win their ties they would face each other and the 2005 final is reborn πŸ™‚ Roma and Man U doesn’t really ring a bell but it looks like it will be entertaining.

Predictions:

Milan x Bayern

Milan to go through very easily for some reason I have this feeling and their form aint bad and I believe they can do it.

PSV x Liverpool

Liverpool to go through penalties as I do not want to underestimate PSV because they can do the impossible sometimes.

Roma x Man U

Man U to go through but barely because Roma wont hold back as to my knowledge they havent been this far in a long time and also I dont think they ever lifted the CL trophy.

Chelsea x Valencia

I cant really predict this because both are there and not this season. Not really consistent as Chelsea were a little shaky against Porto and Valencia in the Liga and were a little lucky against Inter so to take a shot in the dark I would say Chelsea being a favorite to advance.

Sad Roberto Carlos quits Real

9 03 2007

Roberto Carlos has announced that he will leave Real Madrid at the end of the season. The 33-year-old left back has come in for fierce criticism for his recent performances, and confirmed he would not sign a new contract.

This was very expected from Carlos as this was his worst 2 seasons ever in my mind. First the World Cup goal now the fastest goal in the Champions League. I would like him to stay but I dont see a place for him now and I think the time is right for him to leave as an elite rather than an old forgotten player. Marcelo should take his place but Capello dosent seem to like him because in a lot of games we needed him. Roberto Carlos will always have a place in all Madridistas hearts and will never be forgotten. Much like Zidane, everyone feels something is missing in the team and its hard to forget a player of his prestige. The day Carlos leaves will be a very sad day and I am not really looking forward to it. 😦 Bear in mind this was expected unlike Beckham and Zidane.

In your face Capello!!

11 02 2007

Once again Beckham proves critics wrong as he and Van Nistelrooy seal Real Madrid’s comeback. Well lets not rush this πŸ™‚ we have Barca in like 3 games or something like that so we better be ready for Getafe and Athletico Madrid as both are worthy contenders…anyways not much to talk about the game so ill leave you with the highlights:

Vicente del Bosque – Is he the solution?

6 02 2007

Vicente del Bosque is well known for coaching Real Madrid from 1999-2003, its most successful period in recent history, and as a result, makes him arguably one of the illustrious club’s most successful coaches of all time. In his four seasons in charge Del Bosque lead the club through its most successful spell in modern history, having steered the club to two UEFA Champions League titles in 2000 and 2002, two domestic titles La Liga in 2001 and 2003, a Spanish Supercup in 2001, a European Supercup in 2002, the Intercontinental Cup in 2002 as well as being runners up in a host of other competitions including the FIFA Club World Championship of 2000, and finishing in the last four of the UEFA Champions League every year he was in charge. Not since the great Madrid side of the 1950s and 1960s that had Alfredo Di StΓ©fano and Ferenc PuskΓ‘s did the club succeed so consistently.

You see the results dont lie…he was a good coach. I remember he used to bench Zidane and Ronaldo and no one would even ask him. Now back to the question… I would say YES if he would be appointed next season, but NO if it was in mid-season despite the bad results. Why you may ask…its because too many changes lead to alot of problems. We should take these slowly and step by step. Let us be patient (which is highly doubtful) and see what Capello has in hand. In the end I think he would resign and Real Madrid would save themselves 12 million πŸ™‚ . I fully agree with the board on this one since mid-season recruiting is not an option at the moment.

PS: REMEBER I WANTED THIS GUY

Lorenzo Sanz was the president before Perez and I love him!!

Hargreaves: Beckham Will “Have The Last Laugh”

18 01 2007

well this dosent needa comment as i have a feeling in the end that Real will beg Beckham to stay in Madrid and thats it :P…. oo yeah and about our so called “president” stupid thats all

Capello may end Becks axe

18 01 2007

Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello has hinted that he could change his mind about his decision to leave David Beckham on the sidelines for the rest of the season.

“You can’t discard anything,” was the Italian’s response to a question during a news conference on Wednesday asking if he planned to continue with his freezing-out policy regarding the former England captain.

“At the moment this is the line we have decided to follow but you have to be flexible.

“He is a great professional and always shows enthusiasm in training. Ideas can be changed, but it will depend on both the player and the coach.”

Capello said last week Beckham would not play for Real again after the midfielder announced he had decided to leave the club and join MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy at the end of the season.

The coach admitted on Wednesday that he had chosen to put injured Brazilian midfielder Emerson on the bench for last Sunday’s 1-0 win over Real Zaragoza rather than use Beckham and said he planned to stick to his policy for the time being.

Beckham was left out of the squad for Thursday’s King’s Cup last-16 second-leg match at home to Real Betis, together with out-of-favour strikers Ronaldo and Antonio Cassano.

I seriously dont get this guy? WTF has Beckham done to him?! Injured Emerson over Beckham?! This guy is not an amazing coach…he is ignorant and is just crazy…i think he had a bad childhoodΒ  lol and if he did he freakin deserved it πŸ˜›

Capello axes Beckham

13 01 2007

Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello has announced that David Beckham will not play for the club again.

The former England captain announced on Friday that he had agreed to join MLS outfit Los Angeles Galaxy on a five-year deal worth up to $250 million (Β£128 million), and it now appears he may already have played his last game for the Spanish giants.

“The player’s decision is to go to Los Angeles,” Capello said on Saturday. “He has always been a great professional, but we can’t count upon a player who has such a big contract with another club.

“He won’t play again. He will train, but he won’t play. The fact that he wants to leave is down to him, not down to me. You will have to ask him about that,” he added.

Beckham’s last appearance for Madrid came on Sunday, when he was brought on after 13 minutes following an injury to Guti in the 2-0 league defeat to Deportivo la Coruna.

Not suprising as I knew Capello waited for Becks answer cause the only thing that made him play him was that he still had a contract with Real Madrid. Capello is a disgrace for a coach to do this to a player who has done nothing but give his heart and soul to a club he dosen’t even like. Becks has one club in his heart and that is Manchester United. I have had a small hatred to Capello since his arogance in Juventus and now I DESPISE HIM to the point where I like Ferguson now since he is a real man unlike this stupid despicable italian!!

Farewall Beckham hope you have a nice time in freakin LA Galaxy. You should have went to Milan but their goes your career down the drain when you left Man Utd so I was waiting for this day a long time. Go play with Donnovan and all those crazy Brazilian wanna bes who cant play Basketball or American Football and take Football for fun. Your going there for the money yet you are the richest player so its like feeding food to a fat guy. You just dont get enough money!

More to come after I finish my studies….
